Thank you to Frank Guagenti and the Milano Cafe for providing a wonderful meal for our March General Membership meeting last night!

Thank you also to Ray Bernacchi for the entertaining and educational talk about his adventures, risks and world travels for his job. From the sound of it, he's lucky to be alive and we're lucky to have him with us!

Gil Lentol was the name chosen for the cash drawing but was not present to win so the pot is up to $200 for our April meeting.

We've got CIAO T-shirts ordered for sale at our pasta dinner in colors of red and green.  Plan to get yours and wear it often, it's great advertising for us!   If you would like other apparel with our CIAO logo on it, please visit Cappie Sportswear at 3107 W. Elm St, Lima or see their website   http://www.cappiesportswear.com/ .  They have our logo and will do both screen printing and embroidery on anything you buy from their showroom, and they have everything imaginable including outerwear, shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, shorts, pants, hats, accessories, promotional and gift items. For a reasonable charge, they will also embroider our logo on clothing you already have. Check them out!

Plans are on track for the pasta dinner. If you have not yet signed up to be a helper, let us know when you're available and we will happily find a spot for you.

BAKED GOODS NEEDED!!!!!  We need treats to sell at our bake sale table for the pasta dinner. Please drop off your donations on the day before the dinner, Saturday April 12, at the pasta dinner main entrance between 10a.m. and 2p.m..  Our bake sale ladies will handle pricing and can also package your items for purchase so you don't have to. Contact Judy Seifer or Susan Lucente  if you need someone to pick up your donations.  We will gladly accept anything that we can sell, does not need to be an Italian recipe, but that is bonus! Thank you!

Be sure to join us for our March General Membership meeting, Monday March 24!

Our speaker will be CIAO member Ray “Raimondo” Bernacchi.  Ray will speak on his world travels for his job. He has had major manufacturing projects all over the world, including Iran, United Arab Emirates, South America, Mexico and the Far East. He has done extensive Industrial Espionage for a major manufacturer! He will share with us his exciting experiences both good and bad that he encountered during these times. This is the stuff best-selling novels and major motion pictures are made of, you won’t want to miss it!

This will be our last General Membership meeting before Pasta Dinner Day. We will again hold our monthly cash drawing. Must be present to win!

CORRECTION!

In this month's issue of our newsletter, I announced our new Graduation "Gifts" for children of members who do not receive our Heritage Scholarship. In that announcement, I mistakenly said that Heritage Scholarships are for both member children and grandchildren. This is NOT accurate. The rules for Heritage Scholarships remain unchanged and are as they have been, only for children of members in good standing for at least two years. I apologize for the confusion and misinformation. A correction will run in the next newsletter along with complete details and applications for both the Graduation Gift and Heritage Scholarships.

Our March 2014 newsletter is posted, check out the "Newsletters" tab!

Pasta Dinner crunch time, full speed ahead!!!! April 13th is the day and it is only 4 weeks away!  We are still working to fill all of our volunteer spots for Dinner Day. If you're not already signed up, please let us know what time you can work (we have jobs from 8am Sunday morning until cleanup is finished after 7:30 in the evening) and if there is a particular area you would most like to help with.  We welcome help from your children, grandchildren and friends as well, volunteers do not have to be CIAO members.  We are especially in need of cleanup help. This is a big job and in the past we've had just a few people staying very late and working very hard to get it done after having worked all day themselves. This year we want to make sure we have plenty of help. "Many hands make light work"!  If you're already working the last part of the day, please stick around and help us cleanup afterwards if you possibly can. We would deeply appreciate any help from anyone.

BAKE SALE!!!!   Our bake sale ladies need donations of home-baked goodies of all kinds. Your donation will help us add considerably to the funds we raise for more college scholarships and donations to worthy local charitable causes.  Not sure what to bake? We'll take anything that we can sell and your recipe does not have to be Italian.  We can use cookies, cakes, brownies, snack bars, cupcakes, pies, breads, candies...salty or sweet.... Looking for inspiration?  Try Pinterest.com , search the internet for bake sale best-sellers, dig out the cookbooks, we can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.  If you'd like to get a head start on your baking, we have deep freezer space available.  We will be at the Civic Center, April 12, the day before Pasta Dinner from 10a.m. until 2p.m. at the main Pasta Dinner entrance to accept your donations.  We will tag and price and we can also package your items if you like. We have coolers there to keep your goods refrigerated overnight. If you have any questions or need your baked goods stored in our freezers, contact Judy Seifer or Susan Lucente.
