Join us Monday September 28th for our first general membership meeting after our summer off.  Meetings are in the banquet room at the Milano Cafe. Appetizers begin at 5:45 p.m., dinner is served "family style" at 6:15 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7 p.m. Cost for dinner is $14.

CIAO member, Tracie Sanchez and guest, Rachel Staley will talk about the Abilities League and the new Abilities Baseball Field project. We will present them with a donation to this great local cause.

This meeting will also be the deadline to nominate candidates for our November election of officers. We have particular need for candidates for the offices of president and vice president at this time as both seats will be vacant , but all offices are up for election. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else, contact any officer or board member.

Family Picnic

Members!  Join us Sunday August 16th at Camp Robin Rogers (1090 S. Conant rd) for our annual CIAO family picnic!

Come anytime between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Fried chicken will be provided at lunchtime, and we will also provide beverages and table service. Please bring a covered dish to share as well as any indoor or outdoor games you'd like, maybe a lawn chair, swimsuits and sunscreen. The pool will be open with certified lifeguard on duty for several hours in the afternoon and reserved just for CIAO.
There is a large playground for the kids under the shade trees.  We will also have bocce for anyone who wants to play.  Eat in the shelter house outside or in the cool comfort of the air conditioned banquet hall.   We'll see you there!

Bocce, anyone?

Several CIAO members have been getting together weekly to play and would like to invite any other members to come and have some fun, informal and friendly competition.  They meet Wednesday evenings at the Senior Citizens Center on W. Elm Street. The bocce courts are just off the parking lot on the east side of the building.  Membership in the center is not required and there is no age requirement.  Please contact Pete Mariotti or send a message to us for details.  ciaolimanewsletter@gmail.com

Congratulations to our 2015 CIAO scholarship recipients!

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate these exceptional local students.  It was a pleasure to get to know each of them and their families over a wonderful Italian meal.  Thank you to all of our CIAO members and friends who have worked so hard this year to help us raise the funds to provide these scholarships.  We were fortunate to be able to award scholarships to students from every Allen County school that applications were received from and every student who applied was well-deserving. Choosing a limited number of students to award out of the large number of such outstanding young people is the toughest job we do.  These students are dedicated to their families, communities, churches as well as their studies.  We look forward to seeing what the future holds for each of them.
